Drawing Near to God
Drawing near to God isn't just another religious obligation—it's the very heart of what He desires from us. This powerful message centers on Hebrews 11:6, which reminds us that without faith, it's impossible to please God. But what does that faith actually look like in our daily lives? The sermon challenges us to examine whether we truly believe two fundamental truths: first, that God exists, and second, that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. We're invited to consider how we spend our time and what that reveals about what we truly believe will reward us. Are we chasing after temporary satisfactions—scrolling endlessly through social media, pursuing financial gain at the expense of spiritual intimacy, or seeking approval from others—or are we pursuing the presence of God Himself? The message beautifully illustrates that experiencing God requires us to let go of the lesser rewards we cling to, much like we must empty our hands before God can fill them with what He has for us. We cannot neglect prayer, God's Word, or His church and expect to experience His nearness. Like Abraham, we're called to believe that God's reward is greater than anything we could manufacture for ourselves, even when the wait feels unbearable. This is an invitation to stop merely attending church or reading Scripture out of duty, and instead to genuinely draw near to the One who promises to draw near to us in return.
